Henry Bobinett

I started playing guitar at the age of 13, inspired both by the music of Jimi Hendrix as well as the music of my father’s first cousin, Charles Mingus. My father had a huge stack of records and a good twenty of them were of Mingus, so I always heard his music in the house.

About the Event

So a brief fill in about me: I’m a  jazz guitarist who plays a variety of, mostly, improvised music. I also  write music, and own and operate a recording studio. I’m also a teacher and college professor who taught  at The University of the Pacific and Cosumnes River College and presently at various star prisons in Northern California.

Many of you probably know me from my band, The Henry Robinett Group. This has been, and continues to be,  a major creative outlet for me. I love writing for and performing with HRG.

I also love teaching music, jazz and the guitar. I’m going to post some video lessons and printed lessons for download on my music lessons page.

By the time I decided I wanted to play music, I’d look at his section of the record collection and think that somewhere, coursing inside my veins, was similar blood and similar ability. There was also a lot of classical music
