About the Event

A fourth generation Sacramento boy,  John has been writing and singing about the San Joaquin Valley since he picked up the guitar in 1971.  Startng out hooked on Bob Dylan he soon discoverd Doc Watson, Norman Blake and Clarence White.  Moving to Berkeley in the late 70's he soon discoverd California Valley Old School Country Music.  Used country recocrds were very cheap in the 70's.  After hearing the sounds of Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Tommy Collins and Winn Stuart John began singing and writing about growing up as a San Joaquin kid.  Rancho Cordova was a mixing bag of farm workers, soldiers, blue collar trade persons and an emerging middle class .  These influences shapped his songs into stories of lonseome late night road trips on Highway 99, factory jobs, farm work, city living, dying and chasing dreams.  John has woven together through his songs a story of growing up in a small town, leaving to the city, finding work and returning home later in life.  The Sidedooros will be perforiming this journey on Octobery 14th.  Come join us for an evening of stories of laughther & tears.

Michael Rock grew up in Chicago and like many boys fell in love with the LA Country Rock shounds of Gram Parsons, The Byrds, Burrito Brothers and Eagles. A style of the 70's where the traditional sound of country music was mixed with rock and roll style drums and bass.   Mike delivers the music in such a manner that takes you back to those wam LA nights where the music drifted off of the Long Bach pier or the Ash Grove.  City county music about drinking, drugs, sex and rock and roll.all the good stuff that came from the rebelious young pickers Southern California.  Long hair and vintage clothing mixed with all the glorious sounds of LA  Mike will take you back to those days of boots, hats and Nudie Suits.  Echo Canyon is made up of the Ybarra brothers, Rudy on bass, Joey on Steel and local bass legend Tony Dey on drums.  Sacramento main stage musicians for sure come on out for an evening of that LA country rock sound.
