Barry Finnerty and Friends

Barry Finnerty is an internationally acclaimed jazz and fusion guitarist.  He has played and recorded with Miles Davis, the Brecker Brothers, the Crusaders, Hubert Laws, Thad Jones/Mel Lewis, Blood Sweat and Tears, and many others.  Born in San Francisco, he studied at the Berklee School of Music, then moved to New York where he was based for 25 years, along with frequent tours throughout the USA, Europe, and Japan.  Having recently made his home in Elk Grove, he has livened up the local music scene with his high energy jazz and funk artistry.  Back from a 2022 Brecker Brothers reunion concert and extended tours in Italy, he brings his blistering guitar work to the Side Door.

Ben Kopf is one of the most in-demand bassists in the Sacramento and bay area, and is no stranger to the Side Door, having performed here with the Henry Robinett Group, One Button Suit, and Daisy Caire.  He has also played with Jessica Malone, Hattie Craven, and many others, and has produced singles with Darci Phenix, Commerce TX, and SloCoast.  An exciting and nimble soloist with a big sound!

Scott Gordon (drums) became immersed in jazz through the Stan Kenton residence workshops of the 1970s.  He has led a dual life - computer science professor by day, jazz drummer by night, playing and recording with the Dave Bass Trio, Jessica Williams, Hugh Ragin, Herb Jeffries, Rick Hatfield, Joyce Diamond, Swing City, and many others. He currently leads the Herdin'Cats Big Band, and has performed at the Side Door most recently with Geoffrey Miller.
